Welcome to St Philip's West Howe

Congregation April 2019

Welcome, and thank you for visiting St Philip's Church online. We hope that our website highlights the wide variety of worship, fellowship and service opportunities available. Please feel free to read more about our church on this site or come in for a visit. We would love to meet you and share with you our love for Jesus Christ.

We just wanted to let you all know that in light of the BCP area moving into Tier 4 and with the rise in cases of Covid 19 we have had to make the decision as a PCC not to open for public worship for the time being.

We want to make sure that we keep one another as safe as possible and in the current situation meeting together didn't seem to be the wise thing to do. We will continue to Live stream all of our services on Facebook and upload them to out website afterwards.

We will be continually reviewing the situation as we know how important it is to be able to meet together but in the same breath want to make sure it's as safe as possible to do so.

Pray for the Nation

In response to reaching the terrible milestone of 100,000 deaths from COVID-19, the Archbishops invite all to call on God in Prayer. Starting on 1 February we invite you to set aside time every evening to pray, particularly at 6pm each day. More than ever, this is a time when we need to love each other. Prayer is an expression of love.

Why not set a reminder on your phone or your watch to stop and pray!

For more information and to follow the prayers each day click the link below to go to The Church of England, Pray for the Nation Page

Kingdom Kids is a new all age Christian children & families ministry filled with fun, worship, crafts, food and most importantly Jesus!

[Children need to be accompanied by an adult and adults need to bring a child!]

We have been at the heart of the community here in West Howe for decades and we want to continue to be a place where people meet together. As such our church centre is available to hire for community groups and private events such as children's birthday parties and baby showers etc.

At St. Philip's we believe that each person is created in God's image and has an innate value and dignity.   We are committed to ensuring that the church is a safe place for everyone, and St. Philip's PCC have adopted the Church of England's Safeguarding Policy.

We are part of the Church of England and have been in the centre of West Howe since 1953.  We believe that through Jesus Christ we can encounter the God who created and loves us, that when we engage with Him through worship, His word, sharing communion together and prayer, that we are transformed and equipped by the Holy Spirit to live as Jesus' disciples and serve Him in the world.

In all that we do we aim to share the love of Jesus whether through our words or deeds.

However, the best way to find out about us is to come and see for yourselves, so why not join us and see what we're like and what we get up to?  We'd really love to meet you!

On 11th October 2020, we held our Annual Meeting at St Philips which gave us the great opportunity to look back over 2019 and thank God for all He has done in our parish. Take a look  at what we got up to...

If you are facing a crisis or have something that is bothering you, we would be happy to pray with you for a few minutes after any of our services. You don't have to be a regular churchgoer for this. Nor do you have to tell anyone what the trouble is if you don't want to. Simply come along and ask for prayer.  Or you can email your prayer request.
